Determined and motivated, Airnecia Mills is a native of Greenville, Mississippi. She attended Alcorn State University where she was actively involved in Student Government. During her undergraduate studies, she served as a Student Ambassador, ASU cheerleader, became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and was crowned Miss Alcorn State University, 2012-2013. She earned a B.S. in Elementary Education in 2013, and a M.S. in Education with Reading and Special Education endorsements in 2015, both from Alcorn State University.
She continued her advanced studies at Arkansas State University where she graduated in 2020, with a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership. Airnecia currently is pursuing a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership at Belhaven University, Jackson, Mississippi.
Airnecia has a passion rooted in philanthropy with a heart for teaching young children. In 2013, she returned to her hometown and community to teach in Greenville Public School District as a first-grade teacher at Weddington Elementary School.
In 2016, she transferred to Hollandale School District in Hollandale, MS. While in Hollandale School District, she served as a Special Education Case Manager, Special Education Inclusion teacher, 11th Grade English Language Arts teacher, and Cheer Coach. Airnecia positively influenced the culture with her infectiously dynamic character. She mentored numerous students who were awarded community and university scholarships.
She coached and guided teachers to continue education and expand community programs at the school.
In 2019, Airnecia became an Academic Coach in Sunflower County Consolidated School District. Presently, she serves as the Assistant Principal at Lockard Elementary School in Sunflower County, Mississippi. Airnecia is the owner and founder of Mills Academy, a comprehensive after school tutoring and academic learning center in Greenville, MS. Mills Academy was established in 2016 when Airnecia recognized learning gaps in student education in the community.
A passion stirred in her to help struggling learners and provide enrichment services for gifted students. Mills Academy was birthed to serve students Pre-K to 12th grade, specializing in homework assistance, tutorial, and test prep.
In 2020, virtual learning provided an opportunity for Airnecia to expand her quest to educate students. She acquired assets to become the owner of Mills Academy’s Book Vending Machine located in the Oak Court Mall in Memphis, Tennessee. The book vending machine provides a wide breadth of reading resources for students of all grades and ages.
Airnecia is an active member of Rose Hill North Baptist Church in Greenville, MS, under the leadership of her grandfather, Reverend Oliver Robinson, Sr. She sings in the choir, consults for the education department, and co-chairs the strategic planning board.
Her favorite scripture is Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you, “declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future."
In her spare time, Airnecia finds great pleasure in reading and researching, tutoring, helping others, and mentoring young girls.
She basks in frequent travels and explores parts of the United States and other countries. When asked about her journey, Airnecia readily acknowledges that she is grateful for the many blessings to personally grow as she impacts and influences the lives of others.
